Chronicles Abroad

Feb 12, 2020

Roshida took a mid-career gap year after practicing law for major corporations. Although she loved what she was doing, something just didn't seem right. She was burned out and didn't know what to do at the time. She made a radical decision to give it up all up, leave her career, and her 13-year-old dog to focus on transforming her life at the highest level possible.

But it didn't come without fears. She didn’t think she could just quit and travel the world. Each time she thought about traveling, the fear would set in. Sometimes the excuses in your head prevent you from doing the thing you deep down know you want to do.

Roshida also shares with us about how she decided to travel despite having chronic gut issues. So, for some of you who struggle with strict dietary needs, she provides some tips on how to navigate this.

Roshida says moving abroad helped decreased her stress levels in a profound way. She then shares some of the biggest lessons she learned while traveling. What really matters to her. And how loneliness became a huge factor for her while living abroad.

But it’s through that loneliness you learn so much more about yourself. The question Roshida asks all of us is what are you willing to sacrifice at the moment to do the one thing you want to do the most? Roshida discovered her freedom through her gap year experience. You spend more time not doing things you have to do but you spend time figuring out the things you want to do. Roshida continues to provide some solid advice to those who are straddling the fence about moving abroad. Roshida now is focusing on helping Black women get free.

In this episode, you’ll be inspired by the following:
1. Don’t live for other people’s expectations.
2. Through traveling your decision muscles get stronger and you learn no decision is ever a bad decision.
3. Decide what your life looks like instead of just picking something.
