Chronicles Abroad

Jun 12, 2019

C.J. is a serial ebony expat who has lived in Barbados, Colombia, South Africa, Great Britain, and Thailand over the last decade taking him to every continent except snow white Australia and Antarctica. He’s visited over 40 countries and is fluent in Spanish and is learning French and Portuguese.

Rather than joining the digital nomad or backpacker tribes, C.J. has carved out a life as a slow traveler who bases himself in the places he lives and explores the region in-depth with treks for two weeks to a month or longer to neighboring countries.

In this episode, CJ shares what it’s like to be a long-term expat. We talk deeply about relationships, the transition to new countries and what it’s like being a digital nomad.

CJ is the CEO of The Edvisory Group, a boutique international educational consultancy that focuses on helping students gain admission to postgraduate and undergraduate programs in Canada, Australia, the USA, and the UK. Before founding his company a few years ago, CJ worked in law, politics, K-12 teaching, and higher education in America.

In this episode, you’ll be inspired by the following:

1. Your side hustle can become your main hustle.
2. Living abroad has felt safer than living in the United States.
3. You can conquer almost any fear with proper, practical planning.
